Bathurst Preview

This weekend is the big one… Bathurst!! It’s been over 140 days since Carrera Cup has been on track, so needless to say I’ve been thinking about this weekend for quite some time. There is a bit of a twist in the racing format this time where Round 4 and 5 of the series will actually take place on the same weekend. Our on track action starts with practice on Wednesday followed by Qualifying and 4 races (2 races per round) which will take us through to Sunday. Our final race on Sunday is the last race prior to the Bathurst 1000, so it will be the perfect prelude for all of you watching the great race!

As a bit of a refresher, I am currently sitting third in the Championship having completed three rounds, and there is three rounds remaining, so it’s all still to play for. I’m in love with Mount Panorama and have had plenty of success here in the past winning the GT4 Class in the 2017 Bathurst 12hr, setting the lap record for Heritage Touring Cars and showing plenty of pace in the Porsche Cup cars at the previous two Bathurst Challenge events. Absolutely nothing beats the feeling of driving around this place in anger.

Our time off since Townsville has not been wasted. The team and I have had a few test days and I’ve worked countless hours on the simulator and with my coaches to ensure we arrive at the track with our best foot forward. We know what we have to do to win, now we just have to execute!

As always, Qualifying and the Races will be televised and streamed LIVE on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo, as well as that all action from Friday onwards will be televised free to air on Channel 7. Check out the schedule below. If you’re spectating at the track I’d love to see you, so come say hi and check out the HeliMods Porsche GT3!

Cheers!!
