Surfers Paradise Carrera Cup Finale

Wow, time has absolutely flown by this year! This weekend the finale of the 2022 Carrera Cup Australia Championship will take place on the streets of Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast and we are putting it all on the line to take home the Championship.

The circuit is tight, technical and requires huge commitment to generate good lap times. Back in 2019 my debut in Carrera Cup was actually at this venue so I’m very lucky to have some knowledge of the track and know exactly what to expect.

We are leading the charge in the Championship with a margin of 74 points. However, there are 181 points on offer this weekend so it is still all to play for! There has been no rest since Bathurst in order to prepare and position ourselves to operate at my best this weekend. I live just two kilometres from the circuit, so we have a big positive of being able to sleep in my own bed every night, and the fact that I’ve already done a few laps of the circuit in my road car ;)

On track action starts on Friday with two 25-minute practice sessions. This will give us plenty of time to come to grips with the track and sprinkle a bit of McElrea Racing magic to get the best out of the car. We have a 10-minute Qualifying session on Saturday morning followed by Race One Saturday afternoon. The final Enduro of the season will take place on Sunday morning and we have a good chance of taking out the Endurance Championship as well. Then, the final race of the season will be held around midday on Sunday. There is a lot to do between now and then, but I am feeling great and have full trust in myself and the team that we have what it takes!

As always, all sessions this weekend will be televised and streamed LIVE on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo. If you are spectating at the circuit, come show me some love and check out the car! Our full weekend schedule can be seen below. For the final time this year, thanks guys… and wish me luck!

Cheers!!
