The Mountain Is Calling

This weekend is no normal race weekend… we are off to Bathurst and its the penultimate round of the Championship!! With rain on the forecast, 31 cars on the grid and three races over the event, there is no doubt Carrera Cup will be full of action.

The last round at Sandown feels like an eternity ago and since then we have all had a much needed break to reset and recoup. My trip to Europe was fantastic and even as a spectator at the Porsche Supercup in Monza I soaked up a lot of info that we can apply this weekend.

This weekend our race format is a bit different, with a single 50-minute Practice on Thursday morning followed by a 20-minute Qualifying session Thursday afternoon. From then on we have one race each day, closing out our weekend with the final race before the 1000 kicks of on Sunday!!

I’ve been very lucky over the years to complete hundreds of laps around Mt Panorama in all sorts of machinery. However, with rain on the forecast this weekend there will be a few new elements to contend with. The single practice session will be important to get familiar with the circuit, find the grip and setup the car. Looking back over the years, all it takes is a red flag during the session to cut the 50 minutes on track back to 10 or 15. So preparation leading up to the weekend has been key. I’ve been glued to my Simulator and scoured through every piece of onboard footage from my years on the Mountain to ensure we arrive at the track this week with our best foot forward.

I’m feeling very confident in the lead up to Bathurst and trust in my ability, processes and the team around me to really bring the fight to the Mountain. We are taking it race by race this weekend, we know what we have to do to win, so now it’s purely time to execute.

As always, all sessions this weekend will be televised and streamed LIVE on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo. This weekend, we get the added bonus of Free to Air coverage on Channel Seven! Check out the schedule below. If you’re spectating at the track I’d love to see you, so come say hi and check out the Hastings Deering Porsche GT3! .

Cheers!!
