Darwin Carrera Cup Preview

Porsche Carrera Cup heads to the warm and sunny Darwin this weekend for Round 3 of the Championship! It’s so awesome to finally be back in the groove after two years of inconsistent and spread out race weekends. I’ve been absolutely loving the Carrera Cup championship this year and my ability behind the wheel and capacity to learn has continued to improve with the help of the amazing team around me. I feel at one with the new 992 Cup Car and so far we have positioned ourselves very well in the early phase of the championship.

Just over a month ago the McElrea Racing team took the long trek north to get some valuable laps on the Hidden Valley (Darwin) circuit. It was my first time in Darwin and over the two days we tested there we did well over 150 laps and built a lot of confidence on the circuit. I’m looking forward to building on that knowledge this weekend and using it to my advantage when we come up against the 30-strong Carrera Cup field.

Hidden Valley is a short, tight and technical lap, but when you get in the groove it has a lot of flow. As always, Qualifying is going to be a very important session this weekend and the racing is guaranteed to be action packed. One feature of the Hidden Valley circuit is its incredibly long pit straight. The final two corners are critical to setup for the run down the straight, and at the beginning of each race, there has to be full focus on nailing the start.

I’m feeling great heading into this weekend. Over the past few months we have found our stride and continued to optimise our processes over a race weekend. Ultimately, if the team and I continue to focus on executing each step, I’m confident we will in for a shot to add to our race win tally.

As always, Qualifying and the Races will be televised and streamed LIVE on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo. Check out the schedule below. If you’re spectating at the track I’d love to see you, so come say hi and check out the Hastings Deering Porsche GT3!

Cheers!!
